What's Wrong with Systematic Ideology?
GWIEP.net |
Systematic ideology benefits from some highly articulate, persistant, well-informed
critics - not to mention exacting supporters. Here is a collection of essays in
which systematic ideology is put to the test; not every author concludes the theory
is valid or even partially valid. 'The Theory Under Seige' are attacks from outsiders,
'With Friend Like These...' are criticisms from within. Systematic ideology may
never be demonstrated to be correct, but by pointing out its flaws we can hope
to make it less incorrect. That is why the George
Walford Essay Prize offers £3,500 each year for the best essay for,
about or against the theory.
THE THEORY UNDER SEIGE
- George Walford, Ideology, Marxism and the SPGB
David McDonagh's considered criticism of George Walford's writing, based on
many years dialogue and correspondence.
- Anarchy Magazine on Systematic
Ideology
Lev Cheryni, editor of Anarchy magazine, called systematic ideology
'confused array of pseudo-scientific categorization.' The exchange between
Walford and Cheryni appeared in edited form in Anarchy magazine. Here
is the complete text, from 1992.
- IC vs SP
In 1986 George Walford challenged the Socialist Party of Great Britain to
a written debate. Their reply is published in IC
vs SP.
